My job had us work on the Saturday after the Ike hurricane for 6 hours. On a regular basis if we work on a saturday they would pay us overtime. Well come to find out the company decided that this was a “special” situation and they are NOT going to pay any overtime or anything extra. Is this legal Im in Texas. Please help!

Is it legal to sell paintings of commercial logo interpretations?

I like to paint logos, but I try to combine 2 different common logos into one logo that looks familiar, but is not an exact duplicate of either. My question is, is it legal to sell my artwork, or am I going to have problems with Coca-Cola and McDonalds getting all bent out of shape if I morph thier logos together. If thier is some law, can someone reference it?

I am not considering this, just curious if it is legal, people stuff their beloved pets all the time.

I have a supervisor that has discussed some performance reviews with other employees(same level as me) and customers. Also has talked to them about situations that we do not see eye to eye on. I also wanted to know if it is legal for a supervisor to suggest you go get medical treatment.

I work at a corporation. I applied for a position, and haven’t been granted an interview yet. I read a circulated email that stated they were planning on bringing on a new employee soon to fill this role. It is legal for my company to hire a new employee and not grant me an interview for this position even after i sent a posting to human resources?

I live in California. If you are employed by someone who harasses you frequently, but only when you’re alone so that there would be no evidence, would it be legal to record him doing it? Or would you just have to deal with it?

I am part of a group at my university of telecommunications students who broadcast 4 different television shows across college campus in the US. We do not make a profit. I was wondering if it is legal for us to use less than 30 second clips of copyrighted music in our shows.

Is it legal to purchase an internet connection at one location and use radios/microwaves to forward to other branches within our company? We currently have this in place and our internet provider has been wondering why we only have one connection at our one location. We have 4 locations with one being our central site with our server.

Is it legal to limit a tenants’ option to cable by refusing to allow satellite installation?
Filed Under Law & Ethics | 12 Comments
We recently rented an apartment in town to stay at a few days a week. Cable was already installed in this 50+-year-old building when we moved in. We would prefer not to deal with the cable company, as their customer service is terrible and we can get a better package from the satellite provider. However, the bldg management won’t allow us to install a dish on the building. We can see why they’d have this rule, but is it legal for them to limit our choices in this way? We are in Ontario Canada. We have read that, in the US, they cannot ban satellite dish installations by law.
